What is Superwoman Syndrome? 


First coined in 1984, Superwoman Syndrome occurs when a woman neglects herself because she is seeking to “do it all” to perfection and stretching herself too thin. 


Superwoman Syndrome looks like this..

The Balancing Act:

-Career

-Family 

-Friends 

-Your Home 

-Exercise 

-Social Activities 


Types of Superwomen Moms

-Professionals

-Wives

-Homemakers

-Volunteers

-Community Organizers 

-Athletes 


Symptoms: 

-Bouts of irritability 

-Inability to sleep or excessive sleep 

-Memory issues 

-Muscle tension 

-Anxiety 

-Sweating when not physically active 

-Inability to concentrate 

-General aches and pains


Ways to cope: 

-Take the (S) of our chest 

-Ask for help 

-Take time for you 

-Learn to say no 

-Set realistic goals

-Let go of perfectionism

To be honest, this is something I have personally struggled with. It’s not easy being a mom especially with the constant comparisons we can make on Social Media. 


It may look like we’re “doing it all”, but we’re not!
