The Do’s & Don’ts of Pumping

Pumping: The Do’s and Don’ts You Need to Know!

Navigating the world of pumping can be quite a journey, and knowing the right tips can make all the difference. Here are some crucial do’s and don’ts for a successful pumping experience:

👍🏾 DO pump every 3 hours for 30 minutes during the first 12 weeks to establish a solid supply.

👍🏾 DO use a customizable primary pump to ensure your supply is strong and consistent.

👍🏾 DO wash your pump parts after each use or consider having extra parts on hand for convenience.

❌ DON’T pump every 2 hours – it can strain your body and unsustainable over time.

❌ DON’T rely solely on a wearable pump if you’re aiming for a robust milk supply as they tend to not empty like traditional flanges

❌DON’T recommend the fridge hack as it can increase the growth of bacteria (visit our fridge hack story highlight to learn more).

❌ DON’T mix breast milk at different temperatures as it can increase the growth of bacteria.

❌DON’T support pumping while pregnant or harvest colostrum as it can cause pre-term labor and/or miscarriage.

📝Note: If you decide to do anything on the DON’T list or not do something on the DO list…then always do what is best for you as these are just our recommendations that we believe in for our practice and social platforms. Our platform supports what is safe for everyone.

This is also not an all encompassing list, but wanted to share with you some of the key things we have built our philosophies around and wanted to share with you for the FREE!

People don’t tell you what they believe in. We inherently have beliefs and we don’t mind sharing ours. It does not impact how we practice, but we love being transparent and honest.

What are your thoughts on this list? Let’s talk about it in the comments.
